Viva Las stickydrive

Sunday, January 8th, 2006

It’s January 8th and I just returned from CES in Las Vegas.  First of all, having never been to CES, the overall experience was overwhelming.  So, here is my list of the best stuff at CES:

1. Slingbox – It was already cool and now you can get it on a phone.  Slingbox gets the prize as the most futuristic – I was VERY impressed.  Props to Jeremy.
2. Panasonic and 103 inch Plasma TV – yes, that’s really big.

3. Sony Playstation 3 – I got kinda sick watching it because it felt too real – but still very cool.

4. The Royal USB Flash Drive where you can read the files on the actual flash drive – cool but somewhat useless unless you can transfer it directly to another Flash Drive which is my dream.

5. Kodak’s booth – they had a movie playing with a guy leading a bunch of kids in kind of an endless museum where the world was regarding the history displayed on the walls.  It moved me.  Not a lot of things at CES did that.  Kodak shows a kind of professionalism that was rare at CES.

6. The Real Rhapsody Booth – they had a gameshow going on with music trivia.  It was fun to watch and I appreciated the interactivity.

7.  The AOL Booth – Go TC.  We met a cool dude named TC who was behind all the technology at the AOL booth.  He did a great job.

8. stickydrive – David Speiser took care of business handing out stickers and talking up our vision.  Fearlessly he hunted down the folks we wanted to speak with. Jacob also talked up the tech with folks and continually impressed us.

Have a sticky day,

Sol

StickyDrive Alpha is here!

Wednesday, January 4th, 2006

Hey everyone,

My name is Jacob Knobel and I’m one of the programmers here at Sticky Inc. working to increase the functionality of USB Flash drives in every way possible.

I’ve been working, along with the rest of the programming team for the past few months on our very first release of StickyDrive! Now that 2006 is finally here, we’ve completed the “Alpha” version of our code. You may be familiar with the term “Beta” which software companies use to describe software that is still in development. Well, we are in our Alpha stage which is even before Beta, which means that we are still in the very beginning of our product development cycle.

However, we still want to get a bunch of people to test out StickyDrive and provide feedback and comments as we work to refine and develop the product. Our CEO Sol Lipman is in Las Vegas right now gearing up for an exciting weekend at CES where we will be passing out codes to download our alpha release. See if you can find us! — we’ll be wearing cool StickyDrive shirts that say “Get Sticky” on them.

I’ll be heading to Vegas tomorrow and I’m very excited for CES and for the first time, being able to see people use StickyDrive.

Keep checking back for the latest updates from me, Sol, and everyone else here at Sticky through the next week at CES and beyond.

Here’s to a fun future with StickyDrive!
