Also joining us soon is Forrest, a recent graduate of Harvey Mudd college.  Forrest comes to us with a good deal of Flash and UI experience, and we are excited to have him join the team.

Our release of stickybeta_0.6.2  has so far been very successful.  We have had many positive comments, and many concerns in previous builds seem to have been improved or resolved.  Thank you again to everyone who has written in with feedback and suggestions.  We try to respond quickly to questions and implement as many positive suggestions as possible.

If ever you have a question or concern, please feel encouraged to write in and share your thoughts with us.  We’re happy to hear from you.   That’s all for now.

Hello again http://stickydrive.com/blog/2006/06/28/hello-again/ http://stickydrive.com/blog/2006/06/28/hello-again/#comments Wed, 28 Jun 2006 16:23:21 +0000 Speiser, Director Marketing & Distribution http://blog.stickydrive.com/2006/06/28/hello-again/ Hello stickydrive users and readers – happy wednesday.  Many fun and exciting things have been happening at Sticky HQ since last we communicated.  Terry, the gentleman I mentioned in my last blog, is fitting in wonderfully here with the team.  As a senior programmer with 40+ years of experience, he is a tremendous guide and leader for the engineering team – we’re lucky to have him.

We’ve also brought on some more new talent, Ben is a junior programmer recently out of school joining us from North Carolina.  He wanted to pursue more surf time, so a job in Santa Cruz was a great fit.  The fact that he’s jumped in with both feet and begun coding on his first day makes us feel good too.

We are working on a new set of products with some cool features; sadly I can not share a lot of information about them at this time.  When I can, you will be the first (well, maybe the third) to know.  Meanwhile, Jacob reecently posted up a new build of the stickydrive .exe and it seems to have improved a number of tetchy features.

Thank you again to all of our loyal supporters and friends.  We appreciate your hellp, your support, and the fact that you use our program.  As always, if you think of something we could change or improve, plese don’t hesitate to write and let us know.

Have a sticky day everyone.

David

Happy Memorial Day. http://stickydrive.com/blog/2006/05/29/happy-memorial-day/ http://stickydrive.com/blog/2006/05/29/happy-memorial-day/#comments Mon, 29 May 2006 18:24:59 +0000 Speiser, Director Marketing & Distribution http://blog.stickydrive.com/2006/05/29/happy-memorial-day/ Hello everyone, and happy holiday. I hope everyone gets a moment today to relax a little, and to reflect on the reasons for this day off. Did you know that Memorial day, in one form or another, has been American tradition since the Civil War.

Now, in sticky news, here’s what’s happening. Sarah, our visiting survey expert has left Sticky Inc. for the summer at least. She has a long running job as the director of aquatics at a summer camp in Malibu, CA. That place is near and dear to our hearts at Sticky Inc., so even though we’re sorry to lose Sarah, we know it’s in a good cause.

We have a new website, and we’re pretty happy about it. Please feel free to send us feedback on the new site, or on anything else (good or bad) regarding stickydrive – we always like to hear from our users.

And, perhaps most important of all, we’re excited to welcome a new team member. A very experienced gentleman named Terry is joining us as a senior programmer and project manager. He has a wealth of experience and knowledge to use and share with us, including time at NASA. For all intents and purposes, we now have a rocket scientist working at Sticky Inc. Nice.

That’s it for now, thanks for reading, and as always please feel free to write to us with feedback, commentary, or just to say hi.

I hope everyone has a very sticky day.

Welcome Everybody http://stickydrive.com/blog/2006/05/12/welcome-everybody/ http://stickydrive.com/blog/2006/05/12/welcome-everybody/#comments Fri, 12 May 2006 18:15:57 +0000 Speiser, Director Marketing & Distribution http://blog.stickydrive.com/2006/05/12/welcome-everybody/ Well, stickydrive headquarters is buzzing this morning; there has been a significant jump in user traffic.  It appears that a posting on digg.com has brought a minor tsunami of downloaders to the stickydrive website.  First of all, let me be the first to say thank you.  Thank you for trying out our product and giving us so much feedback.

As you know, stickydrive is still in Beta testing, so we expect there to be a hiccup or two.  Your patience with these challenges, and willingness to try out a new product is really great, so thank you for that as well.

In case anyone is still unclear, stickydrive is what we have termed a “digital eco-system,” or a “portal for digital identity.”  Our contention is that many people use flash drives not only as means of carrying and transferring files, but also as an eleventh finger – one which carries music, photos, documents, and now applications for use in a variety of locations.   Our goals have been as follows:

1. To make it easy to carry, access, and share content

2. To offer and refine portable application technology so that your digital identity is not restricted to a particular PC

Our embedded applications (like the music player) are not intended to replace other media options, like iTunes or Windows media programs.  Rather, they are intended to create easy access to your files, regardless of location.  Most computers you use will have one or another media players available to you.  stickydrive has one built in so you don’t have to spend time transferring files when you’re in a new location; instead, there’s a viable option immediately available to you.

As I mentioned above, stickydrive is in Beta testing; we appreicate your help in learning what works well and what needs improvement.  Please feel encouraged to post to our fourms, or to send in emails with suggestiosn and requests.  We will try to keep you updated as things change and improve .  Also, there are several new products in design right now-  more on those later.

In the meantime, thanks again for checking out our product, and let us know what we’re doing wrong, and what we’re doing right.

Have a sticky day everyone.  :)

Thanks for coming! http://stickydrive.com/blog/2006/05/09/thanks-for-coming/ http://stickydrive.com/blog/2006/05/09/thanks-for-coming/#comments Wed, 10 May 2006 01:18:55 +0000 Sarah State, People Person http://blog.stickydrive.com/2006/05/09/thanks-for-coming/ Last week’s focus group was a tremendous success. We delved deep into the minds of 15 UCSC students, discussing their likes, dislikes and deepest technological desires. The turnout was great and everyone had many interesting things to contribute to our discussion. The information learnt and gathered over the course of the evening was extremely valuable, inspiring many new ideas. We would like thank everyone who came to the focus group. Your participation, creativity and humor were fantastic, and we look forward to seeing you again soon.

In other exciting news, the new build is near release. Things are running faster and smoother then ever before. Our new picture uploader will now allow you to publish many more pictures at much faster speeds. There is no better way to share your pictures then with a fast and trendy sticky scrapbook. Try it out and let us know what you think.

Have a sticky day everyone.

Tonight is the night http://stickydrive.com/blog/2006/05/02/tonight-is-the-night/ http://stickydrive.com/blog/2006/05/02/tonight-is-the-night/#comments Wed, 03 May 2006 00:26:15 +0000 Speiser, Director Marketing & Distribution http://blog.stickydrive.com/2006/05/02/tonight-is-the-night/ So, tonight we are having a focus group here at sticky world headquarters.  We are bringing in a team of random experts, people who live a digital lifestyle and can inform us on our successes and our failures.  We intend to pick the brains of 10-15 students from the Santa Cruz area and ask them for their opinions.  Their opinions on what?:
-On flashdrives

-On portability

-On digital identity

We think that we are doing a great job, but I guess that goes without saying.  We wouldn’t be doing what we’re doing if we didn’t think it was cool.  But we want to know what the end-user thinks.   We want feedback on our direction so far, and on some of our ideas for the future.  So I say “pizza for everyone!”  We hope to have a stimulating and fruitful discussion.
Sarah is going to be very excited, I almost never use exclamation marks.  :)

Have a sticky day everyone.

WE ARE VERY CLOSE… http://stickydrive.com/blog/2006/04/26/we-are-very-close/ http://stickydrive.com/blog/2006/04/26/we-are-very-close/#comments Wed, 26 Apr 2006 22:48:16 +0000 Sarah State, People Person http://blog.stickydrive.com/2006/04/26/we-are-very-close/ Some new and exciting buzz has been circulating around sticky head-quarters today. Within the last couple of days, there has been significant progress in the modification of our current sticky code, bringing us closer to full Mac compatibility. The Mac version of stickydrive is fast approaching and, upon release, will have all the same functionality as the current P.C version. We too are Mac proponents and we recognize the needs of our potential Macintosh community. We are extremely excited for this upcoming release and I will continue to update you frequently on the status of its launch date.
In other exciting news, there are some new and interesting features that will be appearing in the very near future. We cannot release any details yet, but I can assure you that this new development has never been done before. It will, without a doubt, change the quality and efficiency of your digital existence. Stay tuned for upcoming details.

Have a great day,

Sarah

FAST…LIKE A SPEEDING BULLET! http://stickydrive.com/blog/2006/04/21/fastlike-a-speeding-bullet/ http://stickydrive.com/blog/2006/04/21/fastlike-a-speeding-bullet/#comments Fri, 21 Apr 2006 22:53:21 +0000 Sarah State, People Person http://blog.stickydrive.com/2006/04/21/fastlike-a-speeding-bullet/ T.G.I.F.

Yah to Friday afternoon! I hope everyone has a great weekend filled with lots of outdoor fun and adventure, good food, cupcakes, horse back riding, swimming, bread making, snowboarding, and most importantly stickydriving! Before you take off to enjoy this nice weather and fun weekend, take a couple seconds to read some of the exciting stuff we have been doing here at sticky head quarters.

JACOB CRACKS THE CODE!

This morning was very exciting for Jacob. He finally figured out how to upload and show your pictures at lightning fast speeds. That’s right, I said lightning fast speeds. All jokes aside, the new viewer is crazy fast. I have never been able to view my pictures faster then this in any other way before. This speedy goodness will be ready for use on our next build, so hold tight and you too will be able to run like the wind. Awww.

NEW APPLICATION COMING Y-O-U-R WAY!

Ever wanted to play videos wherever you are but don’t have the right software or codecs? Well, we’ve added the Portable VLC video player to our app section to let you do just that. Download it and give it a try.

NICOLE SAY’S…

“A wise woman once created apple script. It likes both Mac and Unix paths, making my job a hell of a lot easier” and more importantly, “Otis the dog is nice.”

BERNIE SAYS…

“The music of the day is… The Rite of Spring” (Stravinsky)

Take it easy and have a great weekend,

Sarah

What a beautiful day in the neighbourhood… http://stickydrive.com/blog/2006/04/19/what-a-beautiful-day-in-the-neighbourhood/ http://stickydrive.com/blog/2006/04/19/what-a-beautiful-day-in-the-neighbourhood/#comments Wed, 19 Apr 2006 22:52:51 +0000 Sarah State, People Person http://blog.stickydrive.com/2006/04/19/what-a-beautiful-day-in-the-neighbourhood/ Hello stickydrive lovers everywhere,

Today is one of the nicest days we have had in Santa Cruz in a long time. Many interesting and exciting things have been going on at sticky head quarters today, so sit back, relax, and enjoy today’s blog.

First, Jacob is working furiously (well not that furiously) on a new scrapbook uploader. What does this mean exactly? Good question. It means that now, with the improved uploader, you will be able to upload your pictures to the server and generate code much faster and easier then before. This great improvement will be out in about a week, so I will be sure to keep you updated with its progress.

On another very cool note, Nicole is working very hard on the Mac version of sticky. It has come very far and is going to be really freaking cool when it’s all done. Personally, as a Mac user, I cannot wait for this launch. StickyMac is going to rock your world!!! Stay tuned, as I will be sure to continuously update you on its progress.

On a sadder note, Mr. Speiser has been away most of the day attempting to fight a very unjust speeding ticket. If you know Speiser at all, then you know that the man does not speed. He obeys all speed limits, stops for almost all pedestrians, and never ever tail-gates. We would like to give David a shout out…..HOLLA’. Even though success was not today’s end result, we the people, salute your glorious effort! Damn the Man.

Finally, I would like to announce that Sol is the proud new owner of his own personal GPS system. We hope you two are very happy together.

Have a beautiful day wherever you are,

Sarah

What do you like to do on Thursday nights? http://stickydrive.com/blog/2006/04/17/what-do-you-like-to-do-on-thursday-nights/ http://stickydrive.com/blog/2006/04/17/what-do-you-like-to-do-on-thursday-nights/#comments Mon, 17 Apr 2006 23:22:26 +0000 Sarah State, People Person http://blog.stickydrive.com/2006/04/17/what-do-you-like-to-do-on-thursday-nights/ Hello out there,

Things here at sticky head quarters are going really well. The new build is out and looking great. The new installer makes getting sticky much easier and faster. If you have any questions, concerns, or comments just drop us a line and let us know what’s on your mind. That totally rhymed. I love rhyming.

Speaking of love, we want to know what you love. Not who you love, or what you love to eat, or even what you like to do late Thursday night after the O.C. I will be spending the next few weeks on secret missions finding out what you, the people, love to do on your computer. So, look for me around campus or in random Santa Cruz hang-outs….if you tell me what you love to do and use on your computer I will buy you a coffee and a maybe even a doughnut.

Until then, I hope everyone is enjoying sticky. Again, let us know if you have any comments or suggestions, all of your opinions are greatly appreciated.

Take it easy,

Sarah
