Frequently Asked Questions

What is a StickyDrive?
A StickyDrive™ is a portable memory device such as a USB Flash Drive incorporating StickyDrive software. This software connects the device to the internet when available, and then from a server both the user interface and data on the device can be updated.

How is this different than a regular USB Flash Drive?
Through the technology of the software, a StickyDrive can have files managed on drives handed out to customers, employees, consumers, and students enabling a company to maintain new and updated information in the hands of their audience without requiring the end user to go to a website, or save from emails, or other antiquated methods of deploying data.

How does it maintain files on devices already handed out?
This is the secret sauce of the StickyDrive technology. We have unique code that identifies each StickyDrive and determines if that particular drive has the newest versions of updates and information. If not, we add, delete, update, replace files as needed to make each StickyDrive up to date.

What if an employee leaves the company, how can we prevent them from receiving updates?
A StickyDrive should be considered a work tool and recovered from the employee upon their departure; However, in cases where this is not possible, through a registration process and a list match, we can tturn off” individuals StickyDrives from receiving any new updates.

How about subscription customers, like paperless magazines or newspaper subscriptions?
Because each StickyDrive has a unique ID associated with the hardware and user, we are able to confirm if a user has a valid subscription and should receive new content.

What about different languages, how does that work?
StickyDrives have been deployed all over the world in many different languages. In some cases, we have supported 14 different languages with a “select your preferred language” option.

What if the end user is not online?
StickyDrives still work and present the user interface and access to the last update of files received from the most recent time it was connected to the internet.

What if I lose my StickyDrive or it is stolen?
Through the technology of the software, a StickyDrive can have files managed on drives handed out to customers, employees, consumers, and students enabling a company to maintain new and updated information in the hands of their audience without requiring the end user to go to a website, or save from emails, or other antiquated methods of deploying data.

Can we as a company manage the data on StickyDrives ourselves?
Yes, using our optional CMS (Content Management System) companies can manage the data on drives updating them weekly, daily, even hourly if desired.
